FAQs

What is the healthiest dip?

The healthiest dip recipe is up for debate. Some say Hummus is the healthiest, while others lean toward Tzatziki if they use Greek yogurt. While it may not be the healthiest, Spinach Artichoke Dip is pretty close. I mean, how can you go wrong with spinach and artichokes?

Dips vs. Sauces

Honestly, this question is a little bit dangerous. There are so many different points of view, and it’s really not worth arguing about. You smother your food with a sauce, and you stick your food in a dip. That aside, many dip and sauce recipes can be used interchangeably.

What is the most popular dip?

This is another good question if you want to get a lively debate going. It’s a toss-up between ketchup, BBQ Sauce, Ranch Dressing, and Honey Mustard. It all depends on the person you ask.

What other ways can I use dips?

I love this question. Really!

Let’s start with using them on sandwiches instead of plain mayo. Then on pasta for a great pasta salad. I love to toss a couple of tablespoons of chimichurri in my rice just before serving. A topping on pizza instead of regular pizza sauce. Spice up a stew or soup. A pick-me-up for roasted veggies. And I’m just getting started!😉

The 20 Divine Dip Recipes Countdown

Variety is the spice of life. Having a good selection of dip and sauce recipes is a real lifesaver. Did you know that you can take the same old boring recipe, add an incredible dip or sauce, and you have a brand new flavor sensation in your weekly rotation?

1. Smoked Salmon Dip Recipe

Salmon Dip with a baguette - fall party food

The flavorful, really smoky salmon is so delicious and just lingers in your mouth. And it’s real salmon meat with cream cheese and incredible spices!

This dip recipe is so much better and cheaper than store-bought. It goes so well on crackers, veggies (especially celery sticks), and toasted bread, like my No-Knead Bread.

Usually, it’s still good after 2-3 days if it gets refrigerated soon enough. I have stretched it to five, and it was fine, but I wouldn’t go longer than that. And oh, it kinda firms up when refrigerated. So bring it to room temperature first, give it a little gentle stir before serving.

Not to mention graham crackers dipped in caramel and then dipped in a cold refreshing glass of milk. Ooooh, and pretzels! Oh my! Talk about salty-sweet perfection.

And no need to worry about this baby going bad on you fast. It will last in the fridge for up to a month and in the freezer for three months. Just warm it up a little after taking it out of the fridge because it will be stiff.

9. Bean Dip

Chips Dipped in Bean dip

Bean Dip is famous for its Tex-Mex origin. Unlike regular bean salsa, the beans are pureed into a smooth consistency along with the rest of the ingredients like green chiles, cream cheese, cheese, and jalapeno, among others. The perfect dipping tool is homemade tortilla chips. Yum!

What makes this dip crazy good is the authentic Taco Seasoning for that exciting Mexican flavor profile that will keep you coming back for more.

This Cheesy Bean Dip is perfect for making in advance. Just prepare according to the recipe instructions, then cover and refrigerate until about half an hour before you’re ready to bake it.

That half-hour lets it warm up, so it doesn’t go into shock when you put it in the oven. After it’s cooked, it can last for up to 4 days in an airtight container in the fridge.

This perfectly creamy cheesy and super satisfying fan-favorite dip loaded with spinach, artichoke hearts, cream cheese, sour cream, and layers of cheeses is a temptation worth not resisting. No wonder it always disappears so fast at parties and holiday gatherings!

My fave way of eating this popular dip recipe is toasted no-knead bread slices.

And yes, you can definitely make this super dip recipe the day ahead. Just cover with foil or cling wrap and refrigerate. Bring it out so it can come to room temperature for about 30 minutes, and pop that baby in the oven. Don’t forget to remove the foil!

Leftovers (if there are any) will last properly stored in the fridge for four to five days.

A smooth, creamy, and thick dip with a hint of heat uses just a handful of ingredients and requires little to no effort to make. A must-have for game nights, football parties, or when you have friends coming over.

I adore this dip with taro chips, soft pretzels, or veggies. The slightly hoppy flavor from the beer with a hint of garlicky is impressive.

Let this easy cheese dip recipe cool down first before transferring it to an airtight container. Then it will last in the fridge for 3-4 days.

And when serving, simply reheat it in the microwave or over the stovetop on low heat, constantly stirring, until heated through. I wish it froze well, but alas, it doesn’t. So make it fresh and enjoy it for all it’s worth.

These cool beans make the perfect dip. Refried beans, or frijoles refritos in Mexico, are made with cooked beans, then sauteed with some mouthwatering spices and seasonings, and added with water before it’s mashed thoroughly.

The spices and creamy textures of mashed pinto beans are so satisfying. Lard makes them better, but if you’re worried about fat, they’re really good with olive oil

They can be made the day before, and leftovers can be stored in the fridge for three or four days. Yes, you can freeze them for up to three months.

Fresh Pico de Gallo in a Clear Bowl

What’s Mexican food without Pico de Gallo? I love the name; it means rooster’s bill. One of my favorite sauces served at Mexican restaurants is this delicious cilantro-laden sauce with fresh chunky tomatoes and jalapeños.

I love to smother my tacos, tortilla chips, or Carne Asada in this mouthwatering sauce.

This is not a salsa you want to make ahead. It’s best freshly made. However, you can store leftovers for up to three or four days in the fridge.

15. Chimichurri Sauce

Chimichurri Sauce in a Clear Bowl

This incredible green sauce (dip) originated in Uruguay and Argentina. This drool-worthy sauce will take your grilled meat dinner to another level.

This easy dip recipe (yes, I know it says sauce) is a super easy condiment made of finely chopped parsley, garlic, onion, vinegar, oregano, and other spices. You can have this ready in just 10 minutes, no cooking. I also love it on tostones.

Red wine vinegar helps this sauce last longer than others. You can store this chimichurri sauce in the fridge for as long as two weeks, provided that it’s well-covered.

I add a little olive oil to help it keep longer, too. This sauce can get darker over time, but that doesn’t affect the delicious flavor.

16. Corn Jalapeño Dip

Corn Jalapeño Dip Served with Taro Chips

So I wanted a dip to go with taro chips and could not think of a better one than corn dip. If you can’t find fresh corn, frozen will work, too.

In this incredible dip recipe, fresh corn is the star with some heat from the jalapeno, garlic, and, of course, cheesy goodness that makes this dip oh so delicious.

The cheese makes this dip incredible, but it does shorten it’s lifespan. It will keep in the fridge for up to a week. If you want to freeze it, leave out the cheese until after you thaw it and are ready to serve.

Hot Corn Dip
A creamy, cheesy, and delightfully tangy dip guaranteed to be the life of the party! Sweet, crunchy corn melds with gooey cheese and smoky bacon for a one-of-a-kind dip that's addictively delicious. The perfect appetizer for game day, summer cookouts, or midweek cravings!
Makes 4-6 cups

17. Spinach Dip

Spinach Dip in Hollowed Mini-Bread

This spinach dip here is one of the easiest dips to make, and you probably have all the ingredients sitting in your pantry and fridge or freezer.

No seasoning pouch is needed to elevate the flavors in this easy dip. Homemade is always best!

Sour cream, cream cheese, parmesan, and mozzarella give this dip recipe a pleasant tartness and slight sweetness and lots of umami. My homemade Creole seasoning makes it all better.

Spinach dip has a fairly short lifespan and doesn’t freeze well. Try to use it up within two or three days. I know, that won’t be a problem.😉

18. Pimento Cheese

ImmaculateBites-Pimento Cheese-P

Pimento peppers are bright red heart-shaped sweet peppers that are around 3-4 inches long and 2-3 inches wide. They are very mild, sweet, and flavorful. They add a sweet pepper flavor to this pimento cheese dip that is irresistible. You can usually find them in most grocery stores close the olives.

It goes so well with cut-up veggies, wedges of flatbread, crackers, and it even makes a great sandwich with homemade wheat bread.

The nice thing about this dip recipe is that it has a longer lifespan. It can last up to two weeks in the fridge. I’m saying what I’ve been told because, honestly, it’s never lasted long enough at my house to prove if that’s true or not.

Pimento Cheese

Carrot and Cucumber Slices Dipped in Tzatziki Sauce

Yeah! Another sauce that doubles as a dip. Yogurt, garlic, cucumbers, and olive oil team up for a mouthwatering dip perfect for a veggie tray, gyros, lamb, and pita bread.

Because of the cucumbers and yogurt, this dip goes south fast. I try to use it up within a few days, four at the most.

Oh my, this sauce is so addictive. There’s something about a hint of horseradish that makes any dip or sauce a whole lot better.

Cocktail sauce is often served with seafood. It is a simple sauce that combines ketchup, chili sauce, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, and prepared horseradish. And yes, it’s a little on the spicy side. Yum!
