Fruit Dip – creamy, delicious, sweet yet tangy fruit dip made with just a handful of simple ingredients in just 5 minutes. A great addition to your snack time or potluck fruit trays. Your summer won’t be complete without this!

Fruit Dip

Since patio season is right around the corner, I thought this easy and delicious Fruit Dip here would be a great accompaniment to your fresh fruit trays. Your kids will love it and so will the adults. If you think eating it on its own by the spoon is way cooler, then so be it. I won’t judge! It’s insanely hard to resist this luscious dreamy dip when it’s right in front of you.

What is Fruit Dip Made Of?

Fruit dips are not that fancy yet they make your fruit snacking experience extra wonderful. Honestly, there’s no right or wrong when making fruit dips. They can be anything you want, but cream cheese makes the base of every fruit dip that I’ve encountered. It can be as easy as cream cheese + marshmallow fluff OR cream cheese + marshmallow fluff + orange juice for that zesty kick. Yes, it is THAT versatile!

But my Fruit Dip here is probably the best that you’ll ever have. I know, the ingredient list (at 7) is kinda longer compared to others, but trust me… you won’t regret making it this way. The flavors in this dip complements well with the fruits as it tickles your taste bud making you reach out for more. Absolutely SPOT ON!

Fruit Dip

Aside from cream cheese (I use Philadelphia cream cheese), I also added:

√ Non-fat Greek Yogurt – to add tanginess to this dip minus the fat

√ Whipping Cream – for a lighter texture and a bit of milk flavor.

Is heavy cream the same with whipping cream? Actually, they are essentially the same thing only that heavy cream has higher fat content and hold its shape longer than whipping cream.

√ Powdered Sugar – as a sweetener (As always, adjust to suit your taste buds. You can start by adding 1/4 cup at a time and taste as you go.)

√ Honey – for a balanced sweetness

√ Lime Zest and Juice – for that nice zesty kick

See? When can I say? It’s delicious, it’s truly delicious! I love spotting hints of various flavors in everything I eat.

How To Make Fruit Dip?

Whether your serving this for a summer party or for an afternoon snack at your patio, you don’t need to worry if you make it on the same day. A grade schooler can even make this Fruit Dip for you.

Simply mix all the ingredients in a large bowl and whip together until slightly fluffy. Then cover the dip and place in the fridge for 1-2 hours before serving it.

Fruit Dip Variations

Oh yes, you can certainly experiment on this recipe to make it your own. Below are just some of the popular variations of this Fruit Dip

Yogurt – Cream cheese +  Whipped Topping + Vanilla Yogurt + Vanilla Pudding

Marshmallow  – Cream Cheese + Marshmallow Fluff + Orange Juice

Strawberry  – Strawberry Cream Cheese + Marshmallow Creme

Brown Sugar – Cream Cheese + Brown Sugar + Sour Cream + Vanilla Extract + Whipped Topping

Chocolate  – Cream Cheese + Sugar + Cocoa + Vanilla Extract + Whipped Topping

How Long Does Fruit Dip Last in the Fridge?

Store any leftover dips in the fridge for up to 3-4 days. If it develops any odd flavor or odor, then discard it right away.

Can I Freeze Fruit Dip?

Although it is possible, I don’t highly recommend freezing dairy-based products like this fruit dip here. The texture won’t be the same as the freshly made ones. So if you want to make it ahead, prepare it a day or two in advance and store in the fridge. It keeps well in the fridge for up to 4 days.

Best Fruits To Serve With This Fruit Dip?

Wanna hear the good news? You can basically pair this Fruit Dip here with a wider selection of fruits. Oh YES! Just a quick note though, I tend to avoid fruits that get mushy or browns quickly after peeling. Below are my favorite choices for this easy, delicious and addictive homemade Fruit Dip:

  • Strawberries
  • Pineapple
  • Grapes
  • Oranges
  • Blueberry
  • Honeydew
  • Cantaloupe
  • Apple slices (toss them with pineapple or lemon juice to keep from browning easily)
