Strawberry Banana Smoothie – creamy and thick naturally-sweetened smoothie made with fresh strawberries and ripe bananas. A healthy and filling way to cool down this summer season!

Enjoying a refreshing strawberry banana smoothie

I love summer! The vibrant lively colors, sunny weather, cute summer dresses, and, of course, fresh produce – all get me giddy when summer is around the corner.

For the most part of this season, you can see me frequenting our local farmer’s market or sipping some cold treats on the front porch. Even if L.A. always has that good weather all year round compared to other states, summer will always be a favorite of mine.

Why Treat Yourself to a Strawberry Banana Smoothie

Perhaps it’s because tropical fruits are flooding our market during summer, and I’m a sucker for tropical fruits. But for today’s recipe, I’m sharing a non-tropical fruit that is abundant year-round and pretty versatile – STRAWBERRIES! How can you not love strawberries?

They’re sweet, juicy, easy to eat, and of course, healthy. You can toss them on salads (strawberry spinach salad, for example), acts as natural sweeteners, and makes great jam, drinks, and smoothies. One of our hottest-selling smoothies in the house is this Strawberry Banana Smoothie.

What you need for this recipe

You don’t need complicated ingredients to whip this up. In fact, you only need four ingredients to enjoy a really good thick strawberry smoothie (like the one below) that will make your taste buds happy.

Also, don’t forget to put your personal preference into consideration when making this recipe. If you prefer your smoothie to be on the thicker side, then by all means, follow the recipe to a “T”. But if you want it thinner, add more milk.

Want more sweetness in your smoothie? Add more honey or bananas for healthier choices, or simply go with sugar if you think that suits you. See how flexible this recipe is?

All you have to do is just toss all the ingredients in the blender and blend for a few seconds until you achieve your preferred consistency. It doesn’t get much easier than this!

As for those who want to incorporate more nutrients into this drink, you can customize this smoothie and add some more berries of all sorts or greens like kale for a healthier summer treat!

Enjoy your strawberry banana smoothie with a friend

This smoothie makes a wonderful and filling way to eat more fruits for breakfast, as a post-workout reward, or as an afternoon treat in your front yard. Embrace the summer with some cold, thick, creamy, and healthy smoothies made from scratch!

Enjoy the sun!

Tips and Notes

  1. You can replace coconut milk with any of your choices. It’ll work. You can use whole milk, almond milk, soy milk, 2% milk, or any milk.
  2. If the smoothie is too thick, add more milk. If it’s too thin, add more fruit or ice.
  3. Fresh strawberries work fine, but they won’t be as thick as you see in the pictures.

Is this canned coconut milk or the carton type?

Either one will work fine. My personal opinion is the carton type doesn’t have as much coconut flavor.
