Mimosa Drink – a popular fruity cocktail made with champagne and orange juice; this time I infused it with pineapple puree. A must-have on Mother’s Day or basically any special day!

Mimosa Drink

Where did all the days go by? I just came to realize that we’re almost halfway down the year. Imagine that!

While I’m starting to question what have I been doing for the past 4 months, I’m also thrilled to welcome May as it is my birth month. I’m not going to tell my age, not now. 😉

This month is my favorite month, not that it’s because it’s my birth month, but it’s also the month of celebrating Mother’s Day, a day close to my heart; and of course, Cinco de Mayo!

For this event,  I’ve created a special menu to share with my family and friends. But I feel the urge to share this Mimosa Drink firsthand on the blog ’cause you guys simply rock!

Mimosa DrinkWhat is Mimosa?

This popular drink is said to have been created in Paris in 1920s with different variations. But the main parts of a mimosa drink is the champagne (or sparkling wine on other cases) and a citrus juice, usually orange juice.

Since I’m a little over the rainbow now and so embracing the summer breeze, I’m adding a tropical twist to the usual champagne and orange juice combo – PINEAPPLE! Who doesn’t need one?! I’m a tropical gal so you got to expect some tropical twist here and there on most of my recipes. 😉

Now, on to this drink.

How to Make Mimosas?

This is probably one of the easiest drink to mix and serve. Making it a go-to celebratory cocktail!

All you have to do is pour the ingredients to combine. You can easily whip this up in 10 minutes and ready to serve to your guests.

Mimosa Drink

You can simply stick with the most basic combo or add some fruits to your liking like strawberries, grapefruit, berries, etc. Adding pineapple to this Mimosa drink adds natural sweetness and makes it even more light and refreshing. Fresh pineapples are preferred as they are much sweeter than canned ones.

Mimosa Drink

If you’re hosting a party and want a little more fun to it, you can always add a Mimosa bar. Just sliced up ahead any large fruit and serve it in short glass vases with a spoon. You can separate each fruit into its own vase or store all the fruits in one. Then place ice in a vase with tongs along with all the champagne flute or any cocktail glasses you have.

Mimosa DrinkStore everything in the fridge, including the orange juice and champagne, and set up the table 15 minutes before the guests start arriving. Want more drinks like this? You can check out my Strawberry Daiquiri OR my Mango Margarita.

Happy Mothers day!

Tips and Notes:

  1. Freshly squeezed orange juice is preferred as it is lighter, more delicate with a bit of tart than anything you buy in the store. The same goes with pineapple, too. But if you opt to  buy orange juice at the store, go for a high-quality and not the concentrated ones.
  2. You can use any member of the orange family – from clementines, navel oranges to blood oranges. It’ll be fine.
  3. Use a dry sparkling wine instead of the sweet kind as they mix well with juice.
  4. Start with chilled ingredients as they yield far better tasting mimosas.

Is there an alternative to champagne for a non-alcohol drinker?

I’m not sure but Carbonated water (Soda Water) might do the trick as well
